Although officially formed in November 2004, Norglen's roots date back to the shared childhoods of vocalist Andrew Doll, bassist Brendan O'Byrne, and drummer Joel McCann. The three friends were raised on the same street in northern Alberta, Canada, and eventually decided to combine their musical prowess into a polished pop/rock band. After moving to Vancouver, the band recorded a self-titled EP with producer Dale Penner and enjoyed a fair degree of radio airplay in western Canada, leading to a series of recording sessions in Los Angeles alongside Chris Fudurich. After settling in Toronto, Norglen's lineup expanded with the addition of guitarists Hugh Allen and Hiro Okhibu, both of whom contributed to the debut album A Long Way from the Truth.
