Alpha Beat
Pop-rock group originating from Silkeborg, Denmark. Originally named "Sodastar", but they changed the band's name to avoid confusion with a German group already called "Sodastar". In 2007, the group released their debut album "Alphabeat" in Denmark. Their 2008 album "This Is Alphabeat" was released worldwide, and although it contained many of the same tracks as the original 2007 release, the tracks now in general had a more polished/mainstream pop sound. Until 2012, the group released two additional albums, "The Spell" in 2009 and "Express Non-Stop" in 2012, before going on a hiatus. During the hiatus, several of the band members released music from their own projects. In early 2019, the group reunited, released the single "Shadows" and announced a European tour.
Alphabeat is a Danish pop band from Silkeborg, fronted by singers Stine Bramsen and Anders SG and signed to Polydor Records. Their single "Fascination" was a major hit in Denmark during the summer of 2007 and a significant hit in the United Kingdom in 2008. Follow-up single "10.000 Nights of Thunder" (or just "10,000 Nights" in the UK) saw equal acclaim, and their eponymous debut album reached number two in Denmark and number ten in the UK. It has sold over 100,000 copies and their three top twenty singles have sold of 400,000 altogether in the region.
